Week 20

We made it to the half way point! Now that the sickness is going away, this pregnancy thing is getting more exciting each day! Not that it wasn't before and of course worth every minute... it was just so darn hard to enjoy it when I felt rotten all of the time. Feeling the kicking, a growing baby bump, and knowing we are having a boy sure all make it exciting!

Here's a recap of last week:

Symptoms: I'm hoping I don't jinx it by saying this out loud!!... but last week was full of more good days than bad. I think the constant feeling sick all of the time is behind us. There are still a couple of times throughout the day when I have a few minutes of feeing blah, but usually eating something kicks that in the behind real quick. Fingers crossed!

The worst thing this week has been the back ache. We took Zoe for a walk on Sunday night and about 30 minutes after I got home my lower back was killing me. By the time I was getting ready for bed I could barely walk. I read in my book, and sure enough, it said that long periods of walking can onset a bachache. I am so bummed because the weather has been so nice and I enjoy getting out and getting some excercise in the evening. We haven't been on a walk since, but I will probably try it again... maybe just a little shorter one this time.

Movement: I know I have said this before but this baby boy is moving/kicking ALL.THE.TIME.!  And I love it!! It is hands down the coolest thing ever.  I know it's still early to feel anything from the outside (most of the time) but I do feel sorry for Brad. He is so anxious to feel a kick! Here is what has happened with him... one night last week I hurried him over because I swore he'd be able to feel something. At first he thought he did, but then when I spoke out loud, he wasn't sure if it was the baby or me moving/talking. A couple of nights later, I felt him kick from the outside.... so of course I called Brad back over. This is what happend that time and every time since... which has been at least 10 times. Whenever Brad is around, the baby stops moving. I'm not even kidding! Brad will literally put his hand on my stomach, and I will feel nothing. But sure enough, the second Brad moves away, he's right back kicking again.  It is the weirdest thing and is a good indication of how stubborn this little guy already is!

Shopping: We went furniture shopping this past weekend. We went to Buy Buy Baby, Babies R Us, USA Baby and Nebraska Furniture Mart. We liked a lot of things, didn't like a few, but still trying to make a decision.

We had dinner with Brian & Jen, Drew & Jack on Saturday night at Old Chicago. They came with gifts! Our little guy is going to have some of the best aunts, uncles, and cousins ever! The boys each picked out a cute little outfit for their new cousin and Jen picked out a few more from her and Brian. The little man is going to be stylin' for sure!! Thanks, guys!! :)

Well, here's hoping everyone is having a great week and enjoying this fabulous weather! Happy Spring!! :)

What happens when you tell (25) 8 year olds you're having a boy?!

They go crazy! They jump up and down and scream and high-five each other! I wonder what they would have done if it was a girl? :)

On Monday after Spring Break, I told my class we were having a boy. Before I made the announcement I had them go around the room and each take a guess, girl or boy. It was just about even. It was pretty funny because most of the boys thought (or maybe were just hoping for) a boy. But the girls were mixed with both girl and boy. I have more girls in my class this year. So I went ahead and told them and the boys were beyond excited, high-fiving and everything! They thought it was the coolest thing ever! The girls were very excited too, but in a different way. They were like, "oh, a boy"!!  Right after, I had about 6 girls ask his name, in which I told them we weren't sure yet. One told me her name could be used as a boys name too and I should use it. Another girl told me her mom has a list of names from when her baby brother was born and she was going to let me borrow it.  Too funny!

Week 19

March 17th, 2012.
Baby Z had a pretty busy day before this picture was taken. It was St. Patrick's Day, so we went downtown to the St. Patty's Day parade. We met up with Brian, Jen, Drew, and Jack. There were so many people, but it was a lot of fun!! After the parade we all had pizza! After eating lunch, Brad and I came back to OP and went to Baby's R Us. Wow! Lots of fun, but very overwhelming. We finally just had to leave. There are so many awesome things for a baby, but that means so many decisions to make. On Sunday, we started our registry at Target. This one wasn't as bad because they have a lot less baby items and we focused on the smaller items here. At least now I can work on the registries from home.

Everything else is pretty normal. The sickness is slowly starting to go away a little each day. Not near as bad as the weeks before. I'm very happy about that and so is Brad because I have started cooking again! :) I had a doctor's appt. on Wednesday and he said everything is going well. Good news!

I'm still sleeping well and the baby is still very active! He moves morning, afternoon, and night, and especially during and after meals. :)

I had so much fun last week when we told everyone we were having a boy! The excitement and encouragement from all of our family and friends was just awesome! I received so many phone calls and texts, plus SO many people commented on Facebook. I have had so much fun reading all of the comments! It was also fun going back to work after Spring Break when everyone there found out. It is so much fun when everyone is just as excited as you are about a new baby!!

Shopping!

Well of course now that we know about our little man, we just had to go shopping! I think I was a bit more excited about this part than Brad! He kind of got into it more once we got to the store! We didn't have a bunch of time yesterday afternoon (partly because we wanted to call so many people), that we just went to Target. They have some really cute things. Definitely more girl clothes than boys, but I figured it would be that way. :) Hopefully, this weekend we can really start doing some shopping for furniture. Anyway, we picked out a few onesies. It's a start! I have received several outfits from friends and family, so I already have a good pile of clothes that are waiting to be washed and hung up! It has been fun pulling them out and looking through them because some of them were given to us a year ago.

I just had to share the two that Brad picked out. He had more fun than he will admit. :)

 "Hide Your Daughters" Love it!!

"Daddy's on my pit crew." Brad loves nascar, so this one didn't surprise me.

Boy or Girl?!

We are having a BOY!! YAY!! I am so stinkin' excited!! We would have been thrilled with either a boy or girl of course, but boys are just so new to me! I have a sister, had so many friends that were girls growing up and still do, and babysat a lot of girls when I was younger. Actually, I was so excited when I met Brad and learned he had brothers... and of course I have two of the best nephews ever!! But having one of my own will be so different!! I can't wait for boy toys and clothes!! Yes Jen, bring on the trucks and tractors!! :) :)

Anyway, we had our sonogram yesterday afternoon. Brad met me at the doctor's office from work.  Right away, the sonographer said, "I am not going to be able to tell you what this baby is in this position". I was like "oh great, of course that would be our luck... we have waited this long and now he/she isn't going to cooperate!" Anyway, I knew in the back of my mind that this baby has been sooooo active lately, so I told her that she/he will most likely move if we give him/her a few minutes. She agreed because she could already see him kicking and doing lots of moving around.

A few minutes went by as she looked at all of the important stuff she was supposed to look for. She kept listing a bunch of body parts she was finding on the screen, spine, brain, lungs, diaphragm, so I knew that could only be a good sign.

A few minutes later she said, "I think I have a pretty good idea of what this baby is but I am not going to say just yet." I almost said, just tell us!! But, we didn't have to wait much longer after that because Baby Z revealed HIMSELF to us! Both Brad and I saw it at the same time without her saying anything yet and then she caught on that we knew! Her first words were, "this is definitely a boy" and we knew she wasn't kidding!

We told her how Brad is from a family of all boys, has nephews, etc... so she got a chuckle out of that.

We did get a couple of new pictures. They show his face only but are in 4D, so are very, very real looking. So cool! The others we have gotten almost look more cartoon-ish, and haven't shown many features yet. At the time of this pictures he had his foot up by his mouth.

. "Yep, that's my foot! Watch out, I am only just getting this kicking thing down... give me a few weeks!"
The nurse even said she already feels sorry for me because in a few weeks his kicks are going to be painful!

Ahhh!! He is just the cutest little thing ever!! I love him already!

Week 18

This week was a pretty uneventful pregnancy week.... which is a good thing with me. :)  I did have more and more people start to point out the baby bump, which is always fun.

Symptom - nausea (yes, still feeling blah most part of the afternoons and all evenings), heartburn and bachache

Sleep - pretty good still, getting harder to get out of bed with the back hurting :)

Movement - this baby is still very active! I have felt him/her move during most parts of the day at some point. The movement is becoming a bit stronger the past few weeks, so there may even be some kicks in there!

Cravings - nothing really new here. Food is starting to sound better a little more each day. I have actually cooked some meals again, and even made a menu for this coming week! It's on the fridge, we'll see if I stick with it.

Looking forward to - our sonogram on Thursday! Fingers crossed the baby cooperates!! I went shopping with a friend on Monday with her little baby and it was so hard not buying any clothes. There are some pretty stinkin' cute things out there though!!

Maternity Clothes - I got a belly band and I LOVE it!! For those of you unfamiliar, it is a stetchy band you can wear over your normal fitting jeans but you leave them unbuttoned and the band helps keep them up. At first I wasn't sure how it was going to work but I had so many people tell me I had to try one. It really does work and I have worn it with jeans and dress pants for work. Just another way to get me closer to summer in which case I will be in comfy shorts all the time!!
