We adopted Zoe in Sept. 2009 - 2 months after we were married. We had originally thought we were going to wait awhile before getting a dog... I really wanted one, Brad wasn't so sure about the idea, so I thought it would take some time to convince him. He had never really been a big dog lover and just didn't see the need to get one. One day at work I received an e-mail from my sister saying she knew of a dog that needed to go to a good home. I, of course, couldn't say no, but I knew Brad was going to be a different story!! :) I went home that night and asked him, and to my surprise he wasn't completely against the idea. It really took no convincing on my part at all! I was shocked! I described Zoe, the same way my sister had to me: a daushound/min pin. mix, house broken, kennel trained, small, really well behaved, and if she didn't find a good home she was going back to the Humane Society. He said yes! So, I arranged for my sister to bring Zoe to us the following weekend. When she got out of the car, she was a bit bigger than I had pictured, which made me really concerned Brad was going to say no! Megan kind of left that part out! We had always had a weiner dog growing up, so I was thinking she would be about the same size, come to find out she is a bit bigger. Still small enough to be a house dog though. Oh well, she's a whole lot of love!
I know you cannot compare having kids to having a dog, but she sure has prepared us for kids someday! When we first got her, it took awhile to get a schedule down with her - when to feed her, sleeping at night, etc. Sounds just like a baby! And even though Brad would never admit it now, he wouldn't trade Zoe for anything! Not many people probably would believe me, because he doesn't show it much when others are around, but he adores her!
How can you not love this face?!
Think he's a dog lover now??
She had to be right in the middle of pumpkin carving.
One of her favorite places - the back of the couch looking out the window.
