January in Pictures

I went out of the room for not even 30 seconds and I come back in to find Parker sitting straight up in his bouncer. "Enough with laying down, I've got things to do!"

Flashback Friday

This weekend marks 7 years since Brad and I first met. Well, officially met. He will say it was two months before, but we agree to disagree on that one. :)  It doesn't seem that long ago but a lot sure has happened since then. We both graduated college, moved to KC, got jobs, got engaged, bought a house, got married, and had a baby. We will celebrate our 4 year anniversary this year. Crazy! Time sure is going way too fast.

Some days I wish I could go back and relieve some of those days, but I sure wouldn't trade what we have today.  Hey Brad...  (if you're reading this!) ...I will always remember the first weekend we met and look forward to having many more "firsts" with you.

A New High Chair and Cereal. Is It Already Time For That?!

When Parker was born, my parent's gift to us was a high chair. At that time we didn't get one because we knew we wouldn't need it right away. We finally picked one out a couple of weeks ago. I figured it was time to start Parker on some cereal, so when my parents were here this weekend my dad put his new seat together.

Here he is trying it out for the first time.
I cannot believe he is big enough to sit up like this!

We had such a busy weekend, so I pushed back trying cereal until this morning when it would be just him and I at home. The following pictures tell the story...

Not realizing there is something in my mouth yet...

Ok, now I know, what do I do now?

 I'll just spit it out.

 Starting to not like this..

Umm... I think I've had enough.

All better now. We'll try again in a couple days!

I didn't expect him to get it right away. He took about 5 spoonfuls, but really didn't get much down. At least he didn't scream and hate it. I'm certain he'll start liking it soon! Stay tuned!

Christmas in January

Unfortunately, we had to postpone our family Christmas with my side by a week, due to illness. We all gathered at our house this past weekend and celebrated!  Since we were already being "untraditional" (nothing wrong with that though - the most important part is being together!) by celebrating Christmas on January 11th, I kept it simple by making an assortment of finger foods. We ate and chatted and then decided it was time for gifts. 2 and a half hours later.... I would say we were all very blessed this year and all got some awesome gifts. Parker scored some new toys, clothes, and utensils and bowls for cereal - yay! Thanks for a fun time and fun gifts Mom & Dad, and Bret & Megan.  Can't wait to see you all again!

I'm not going to look at the camera, I'm too interested in Uncle Bret.

 And now this block...

5 Months Old!

Parker was 5 months old on January 5th. No check up with the doctor this month so no official stats. I'll share those again next month. He continues to grow, move, and do something new each day. He has done so many new things since the last time I updated so this list is going to be pretty long!

- Wearing 6-9 month onesies and pants but we're getting closer to the 9 month ones each day.

- Size 3 diapers

- Taking 6-8 ounce bottles - averaging 32 ounces of formula a day

-Sleeping 11 hours a night! Holy cow, I just said that! Goes to bed anywhere between 9 &10:30pm and sleeps the entire night without waking. Every night. And yes, I know how extremely lucky I am with this. :)

- Most nights puts himself to sleep on his own in his crib but will fall asleep on his own anywhere. The floor, swing, a big bed, couch, etc.

- Naps (for a longer period of time) two times a day. Morning and afternoon. He will take random cat naps in between.

- Enjoys sitting in his bumbo.

- Rolls EVERYWHERE. This baby cannot lay still. He rolls left, right, up, down. Multiple times. Across the floor. On the changing table. In his crib. Within a matter of seconds. My days of leaving him laying on the floor and running upstairs for something are no more.

- Squeals, "talks", babbles, tries to imitate your words, constantly.

- Smiles all the time. For pretty much anyone.

-Found his toes and can almost get them in his mouth. Has learned to pull his socks off. So in between getting them kicked off and pulling them off, he probably has his socks off more during the day than he has them on.

- Grabs for your plate/fork/food if he is sitting on your lap while you're eating. A sign he's ready for his own solid food.

- Ate rice cereal for the first time this morning. Didn't love it, didn't hate it either. I'm not quite sure of his opinion on it just yet.  Likes his hi-chair though.

- Holds his head really well. Lifts his head up and looks around in his crib, swing, etc.

-Is working on sitting up by himself.

- Impressive eye/hand coordination. He can grab on to anything small you put in front of him and shake it or throw it on the floor. :)

- Loves bath time! He has learned to kick his feet in the water and will do this and squeal the whole time.

- Enjoys listening to stories.

-Loves toys, especially those with lights and sounds.

- He is getting harder to get dressed each day because he is constantly moving/rolling on his changing table. We will probably be moving to the floor pretty soon.

- He will let me rock him, but would much rather just be free to roll around on his own.

- As always, still the best baby ever!

Happy 5 Months My Sweet Boy. Love you bunches!

Christmas Day

The afternoon of Christmas Eve, we went to Osborne to my parent's house. We spent a few days there, but aren't actually celebrating with my whole family until this coming weekend. We went to mass on Christmas Eve and spent some time with my grandparents on Christmas Day. On Wednesday evening, Brad and I went out to dinner while my parents watched Parker. Fun for all! Thanks for a fun time at your house, Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa (from Parker)! Can't wait to see you again!

Christmas on the Farm

We loaded up in the car last Friday morning and made the 5 hour trip to the farm to celebrate Christmas. We spent Friday afternoon through Monday afternoon with Brad's family. There were several of Brad's extended family members who hadn't seen Parker yet, so it was fun having him out there for a few days. On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at Brad's grandparents house, then we had our family Christmas on Saturday evening. Of course, Parker was spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa Zimmerman, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Jen & Uncle Brian and Drew and Jack! He got lots of fun toys, some new clothes and new shoes! He should be all set again for awhile! We spent the next day with a bunch of Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and Grandparents! Thank you for a fun Christmas at the farm, Grandma and Grandpa! We can't wait to see you again!

One of Parker's favorite toys - he was SO EXCITED over this puppy!

My favorite gift. We had to take a time out from opening gifts to have a bottle.

Forget the presents, I'll take the paper!

Excited about another gift! These Christmas gifts are fun!
