The big news around here is that we officially have a WALKING toddler. It took him a little while to master this skill but once he got the hang of it, he hasn't looked back! He absolutely loves that he can walk - actually I should say run since that's about the only speed he knows - everywhere! He was officially walking by 16 months (right before Thanksgiving).
His eating is pretty good, most of the time. There are meals (usually dinner time) when he doesn't eat much and then there are meals when he can't get enough to eat. Here are some of his current favorites:
Breakfast - He usually munches on cheerios and apple juice while I make his breakfast and then he will eat yogurt and a blueberry or plain waffle. He also likes muffins, pancakes, eggs (sometimes), sausage, and cinnamon rolls.
Lunch - I try to make him a variety of things for lunch but his absolute favorite is a grilled cheese, banana, and goldfish. He also likes a cheese quesadilla, or if we have leftovers from the night before I will give him those. Mac and cheese is also at the top of the list. He always has some sort of fruit or veggie with his lunch and drinks milk.
Snacks - goldfish, cheerios, bunny grahams, cheese its, fruit, nutri grain bars, or cheese slices.
Dinner - Most of the time he eats what we are eating. Some of his favorites are lasagna, meatballs, chicken, spaghetti, enchiladas, pizza, and taco meat and cheese. He loves peas (the frozen kind only), broccoli, carrots, and green beans. He usually eats the main part of dinner, a veggie, and some sort of bread and milk.
Desserts - This kiddo already has a huge sweet tooth (he takes after me, I'll admit it!) The days of eating dessert in front of him and not having to share are over! He HAS to have some. Hey, dessert isn't SO bad for either of us if I am sharing with him, right?! He loves brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream, especially frozen yogurt. We're in trouble!
In other news, we are completely off the bottle. He has pretty much been done with the bottle for awhile now; he was only taking a couple of ounces right before bed. We cut it completely out right after the holidays were over and he has done fine with it. It was very bittersweet - definitely means no baby anymore, but I was not sad to pack all of the bottles and accessories away and get them out of my kitchen!
Here are some of the new things he has been up to...
He now loves driving his little cars around on the floor and making car noises to go along with them - it's so cute!
He is OBSESSED with doors and all doors have to be shut and he has to be the one to close it - it doesn't matter what room we are in. His bedroom, the bathroom, the front door, the garage door, the closet door - it's really kind of funny!
He still loves music and definitely loves to dance! He's a little dancing machine!
LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and dances to all of the songs. It's really the only cartoon he will sit and watch.
His favorite thing to do is run around the island in our kitchen and try to open all of the cabinets and drawers. His 2nd favorite thing to do is take all of the recycling items out of the bin and run around with them, then throw them back in.
He is wearing 18 month clothes, but won't be much longer. He's getting a belly on him.. hehe, so we'll have to go up to 24 months before too long! He's wearing Size 4 diapers.
He still has the sleeping thing down. He sleeps right around 12 hours at night and takes a good 2.5 hour nap in the afternoon.
Mommy and Daddy love you Parker! Now stop growing up so fast! ;)
